Seattle City Triptych

A three-panel wood marquetry canvas set inspired by the city where the artist was born and raised. Seattle — from three angles, through the ancient craft of marquetry.

Each panel captures a different face of the city:

• Seattle Sunrise — a geometric silhouette of the Pacific Northwest sun.
• Highway City — the ribboned freeway that carries you into and out of town, with Rainier watching from the distance.
• Space City — the Space Needle standing sentinel above Queen Anne.

Materials. Six tonally different hardwoods — cherry, walnut, sapele, maple, aromatic cedar, and Baltic birch — precisely laser-cut and inlaid by hand onto a solid wood substrate. Finished with Odie's Oil, a non-toxic hardwax that deepens the grain and lasts for generations.

Care. Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and high humidity. A light re-oil every year or two with any food-safe wood conditioner will keep the grain lively.
